Who would have thought that curry is ranked as one of the Japan’s most popular dishes? Actually, there are many people who declare that they will never get bored to eat curry every single day!

In Japan, ‘curry’ means ‘curry rice’ in short, which is not quite similar as the ones you find in India or Thailand.

Japanese curry is made with a paste which is a mixture of spices and a bit of wheat flour to create rather heavy consistency. This thick sauce shall be poured over the plain rice.

The other ingredients are basically fixed: Irish potatoes, carrots, onions and any meat of your choice.
Fry the meat and veggies with a bit of oil for a few minutes, add water and simmer until they become soft. Throw the portions of curry paste cube into the pot. Once mixed well, it’s ready to serve. Just that!
This Is the Curry for Japanese.

Often garnished with some relish called ‘fukujinzuke’; daikon radish and several other vegetables pickled in soy sauce and mirin wine, thus salty and sweet.
It may sound funny but this Japanese relish is a perfect accompaniment for the spicy dish originated from India.
